More than a dozen area recruits to be part of Crosstown Showdown

The lineup for the 20th Skyline Chili Crosstown Showdown has been released, and the area’s college football prospects will be part of several matchups.

Headlining of course is Jackson Carman, the five-star offensive lineman from Fairfield who is the top prospect in the state of Ohio.

He and teammate Malik Vann, a four-star defensive end committed to Cincinnati, will at home Aug. 25 against Centerville.

The Elks boast a pair of prospects as well in defensive linemen Sam Vance and Jevon Henderson.

The same night, Mason will play at Springboro. Comets gaining attention from college recruiters are linemen Zaid Hamdon and Eric Miller along with running back Matt Sora while Springboro players being recruited are offensive lineman Aaron Ervin and linebackers Joe Poelking and Payton Standifer.

Then there is Lakota West. The Firebirds will play Cincinnati Elder at Nippert Stadium in the first part of a doubleheader that also includes Cincinnati powerhouses Colerain and La Salle.

LWHS will have a defense spearheaded by four-star linebacker Xavier Peters and lineman Tyler Bentley. They will be seniors while teammate Steve Faucheux is among the area’s 2019 prospects already receiving heavy interest.
