Oakwood senior tops 1972 school pole vault record

Oakwood senior Jake Schauer cleared 14 feet, 6 inches to place third in the Division II state track and field pole vault on Friday morning at OSU’s Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.

Blaine Brokschmidt, a junior at Miami East, was fourth (14-2) and Versailles senior Luke Shellhass seventh.

Schauer’s personal best also reset a Lumberjacks school record that had stood since 1972. He’ll also compete in the high jump on Saturday.
