Ohio State football: The latest on Chase Young

Chase Young might not be back on the field for No. 2 Ohio State this Saturday at Rutgers.

The star defensive end who is sidelined while a potential NCAA violation is investigated will be on the field with his teammates in the meantime, though.

That was the extent of the update head coach Ryan Day had Tuesday when he met with the media for the first time since Young sat out Ohio State's 73-14 win over Maryland on Saturday.

“I just know that (the investigation) is going on right now, and we’re gonna prepare for him to be back this week,” Day said. “And he’ll practice this week and once we find out more information we’ll go from there.”

Young had a nation’s-best 13.5 sacks entering the weekend, but he was unable to attempt to add to that total after the revelation of a personal loan he received last year from someone he termed a family friend.

The Athletic reported late Friday night Young's indefinite suspension stems from Young borrowing money to fly his girlfriend to California for the Rose Bowl in December and that the money had been paid back.
