Ohio State notes: The Buckeyes have 1,300 total yards, 700 passing yards and nine passing touchdowns this season, all program highs for the first two games of the season… Ohio State is No. 2 in the nation in scoring (64.5 points per game) and total offense (650 yards per game)… The Buckeyes are 19-6-1 against current members of the Big 12, including splitting a home-and-home series with Oklahoma in 2016 and ’17… Ohio State is 19-9 away from home against ranked teams since 2007… Ohio State has seven players from Texas: freshman quarterback Matthew Baldwin (Austin Lake Travis), sophomore linebacker Baron Browning (Fort Worth Kennendale), sophomore running back J.K. Dobbins (La Grange), redshirt freshman receiver Elijah Gardiner (Kemp), fifth-year senior offensive lineman Demetrius Knox (Fort Worth All Saints Episcopal), sophomore cornerback Jeffrey Okuda (South Grand Prairi) and junior cornerback Kendall Shefield (Missouri City)… Browning’s father, Barry Browning Sr., played defensive back for the Horned Frogs in the late 1990s.
TCU notes: Quarterback Shawn Robinson is the first Horned Frog to win his first three games as a starter since Jeff Ballard in 2005 and ’06… Robinson has thrown for 336 yards and four touchdowns this season and also leads his team in rushing with 112 yards and three touchdowns on 10 attempts… TCU was 3-3 against ranked teams last season, including two losses to Oklahoma. The Sooners also beat Ohio State last season… The TCU roster includes two players from Ohio: junior receiver Ryan Martin (Hudson) and junior punter Andrew David of Massillon. David, a transfer from Michigan, is listed as the team’s No. 2 punter… TCU’s honorary captains for the game will be former Frogs Jack Spikes and LaDainian Tomlinson. Spikes was an All-America fullback who scored a touchdown in TCU’s 18-14 win at Ohio State in 1957. Tomlinson is in the College Football and Pro Football Hall of Fame and serves on the TCU board of trustees.
