The Bengals and Browns both received strong quarterback play in their first preseason games.

DeShone Kizer emerged looking like a star in his Browns debut. He earned an 83.0 ranking from Pro Football Focus, the best in the division. Cody Kessler came in fourth at 68.8.

The Bengals’ Jeff Driskel scored a 73, three points behind the Ravens’ Josh Woodrum for second.

Kizer went 11-for-18 with 184 yards and a touchdown (114.1 rating). That coming despite being sacked three times.

Kessler, whose future in Cleveland is becoming murkier as Kizer impresses, went 5-for-10 for 47 yards. Thirty of those yards came on one play.

Driskel completed eight of nine throws for 97 yards. He found rookie Josh Malone in the endzone for his lone passing score, and also scrambled 18 yards for a touchdown.

Yet despite their successes, none are slated to start on opening weekend. Andy Dalton has a stronghold on the quarterback spot in Cincinnati, while Brock Osweiler is the most likely option to start for the Browns, at least in the early season.
