A 2006 Dunbar grad, he was a team MVP as a senior, making 51 catches for 993 yards receiving. But it was basketball that he was most noted for. He was a three-year starter at point guard for some of the best teams in program history.
Powell is the son of longtime Dunbar basketball assistant Alfred Powell.
Lacking led Dunbar for 12 seasons. His teams won three Dayton City League titles and twice went to the playoffs.
Dunbar was 5-5 last season. The Wolverines open the 2013 season at Troy.
Concord signees: Beavercreek graduate Jalen Camper and Ali Barnes of Lakota West have more in common than being the best basketball players on their teams last season. They'll also be roommates at Concord University in Athens, W.Va., where both will continue their careers.
Camper, a 6-foot, 4-inch wing, averaged 20.2 points and converted 42-of-91 treys (46.2 percent).
Barnes, a 6-foot guard, averaged 16 points with a high game of 26 points vs. Kings.
Camp news: The sixth annual Daequan Cook Skills Basketball Camp will be held June 24-26 at Dunbar High School.
June 24 is for third-to seventh-graders. June 25 is for eighth- to 12th-graders. June 26 is for the select top 50.
The camps run from 9 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. on June 24-25 and 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on June 26. Cost is $25 and includes a lunch, T-shirt and goodie bag.

All proceeds go toward the Daequan Cook scholarship fund and AAU basketball programs.
It's an honor: Centerville divers Olivia Lehman and Katie Pole both have been named National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association All-Americans for 2013.
Only 100 of the nation’s top divers receive such recognition. Competitors are judged nationally based on their high school championship meet scores and diving videos.
Lehman is a 2013 graduate and will swim at James Madison University. Polk will be a junior.
Grimm new Hamilton AD: Todd Grimm has been named to succeed Mike Dellapina as the Hamilton athletic director.
Grimm has been Eaton’s AD since 2008 and prior to that was the AD at Fairborn. His hiring was approved by the Hamilton City School District board and is effective July 29.
Dellapina accepted the AD position at Springfield. He had been the Big Blue’s AD since 2005. He succeeds Mark Stoll, who retired, at Springfield.
