Bengals-49ers: Six players to watch

Russell Bodine, Cincinnati C

Not only are snap exchanges a concern with a new quarterback, but Bodine’s role will have added importance with him setting the protections for the inexperienced AJ McCarron.

Ryan Hewitt, Cincinnati H-B

Playing in the shadows of his collegiate home at Stanford, Hewitt will play a major role in establishing an effective run game to keep pressure off McCarron.

Adam Jones, Cincinnati CB

As challenged as the 49ers are offensively, Anquan Boldin is a legitmate weapon and physical presence that Jones will have to contain despite playing on a right foot that’s not 100 percent.

Tramaine Brock, San Francisco CB

The AJ to A.J. connection of McCarron to Green hit the ground running last week against the Steelers and should present a challenge for Brock.

Phil Dawson, San Francisco K

If this is a close game in the fourth quarter, Dawson could be a difference maker. He’s made 19 consecutive field goals and has a history of hitting big ones against the Bengals from his days in Cleveland.

Shaun Draughn, San Francisco RB

If the journeyman rusher, who has been thrust into the role of starter due to injuries, can’t get anything going, it could be a long day for 49ers quarterback Blaine Gabbert against the Bengals disruptive D line.
