And one of the best ways to do that will be to control Mosley, Baltimore’s first round pick 2014 who is emerginng as one of the top young linebackers in the game.
Mosley leads the Ravens in tackles, so Boling’s ability to fire off the line and get to him on the second level will be key if the Bengals want to establish the run in what is always a loud environment at M&T Bank Stadium.
Boling will have some help from H-back Ryan Hewitt, and there will be sets where the Ravens put Mosley on the edge to rush the passer, which is something he has done well. ProFootballFocus lists Mosley with the fifth-best pass rush grade among inside linebackers.
With Pro Bowler Terrell Suggs lost for the season with an Achilles injury, the Ravens may use Mosley more as a pash rusher,.
“They have a great young one in Mosley, who you can see now kind of assuming some of those roles that way, and I’m sure he’ll continue to grow,” Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said.
But Mosley’s primary responsibility will be stopping the run, and Boling will have a large say in how successful he is in that regard.
