Recruit from Georgia lists Dayton in final five

Ian Schieffelin, a 6-8 senior forward from Grayson High School in Loganville, Ga., listed the Dayton Flyers in his final five Saturday.

Dayton offered Schieffelin a scholarship in July. He’s also considering Clemson, Virginia Tech, Richmond and Appalachian State.

Schieffelin is a three-star recruit who ranks 249th in the class of 2021, according to the 247Sports.com composite rankings.

Kris Watkins, a recruiting expert who founded the Southern Hoops Report, wrote Schieffelin is one Georgia’s “biggest stock risers this summer adding numerous High/Mid Major offers. A true stretch forward who hasn’t let his developing outside skill set deter from his ability to score inside/rebound.”

Dayton earned its first commitment from a member of the 2021 class on Saturday when Malachi Smith picked the Flyers. It has one scholarship open for the 2020-21 season and has four opening after the season. Smith fills one of those spots.
