Recruiting roundup: Cincinnati makes play, Florida State offer in Fairfield, Xenia star heating up

The last weekend before National Signing Day 2017 is nearly upon us, but it looks like Cincinnati got a jump on things for next year. 

New head coach Luke Fickell used the Crosstown Shootout on his campus Thursday night to attract a large number of prospects, including several highly rated underclassmen from the Miami Valley.

Fairfield standouts Jackson Carman and Malik Vann and Wayne defensive end Alex Reigelsperger all posted they were there for the Bearcats’ win over Xavier.

Speaking of UC, Xenia junior Meechi Harris shared Thursday night he has added an offer from the Bearcats to his growing list. 

He also has offers from Iowa, Wisconsin, Ohio, Ball State and Toledo.

Fairfield High School, with highly regarded juniors Carman and Vann, continues to be a hotbed for coaching visits. 

Vann added an offer from Florida State. 

On the commitment trail, a Fairborn senior chose to stay close to home. Brandon Easterling committed to be a Dayton Flyer. 

Northwestern-bound kicker Charlie Kuhbander of Springboro got an in-home visit from Wildcats coach Pat Fitzgerald.

And the week started with some good news for a pair of 2018 Dunbar Wolverines. 

West Virginia offered Antwuan Johnson and Taivon Thomas, while Thomas also picked up offers from UC and Bowling Green.
