The Dayton Flyers alumni team playing in The Basketball Tournament is offering fans a chance to sit on the bench during games at UD Arena.

The Red Scare will let fans bid for one or two seats. Bidding will start at $1,000. The money will support the team. It will be a silent auction. Fans can bid by emailing coach Joey Gruden at Joey.gruden@gmail.com or sending the Red Scare account (@FlyersTBT) a direct message on Twitter or Instagram.

The winning bidder will receive TBT merchandise and will be invited to all practices and team events.

In 2020, when the TBT was held in a quarantined environment at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, the Red Scare sold a spot on the team for $1,500 to Andrew Bostick, a 2020 Springboro High School graduate. He was the only fan who saw the games, which were closed to the public because of the pandemic.

The Red Scare will be one of 64 teams competing for the $1 million prize. They are the No. 3 seed in the eight-team Dayton Region and will play No. 6 seed CitiTeam at 3 p.m. July 24.

The Red Scare roster includes seven former Flyers: Vee Sanford; Jordan Sibert; Scoochie Smith; Darrell Davis; Josh Cunningham; Ryan Mikesell; and Trey Landers. Former Wright State guard Joe Thomasson and former Ohio State Buckeyes Kosta Koufos and C.J. Walker are also on the roster.
