The Reds finally overcame their Mets demons, defeating New York for the first time in 15 tries on Tuesday.

Notes on the win from Reds Public Relations:

  • The Reds defeated the Mets for the first time since Sept. 6, snapping a 14-game skid
  • Cincinnati had seven hits in an inning, second most this season (they had eight Aug. 17 in Chicago)
  • Billy Hamilton became the third Red this season to collect two hits in a frame, joining Eugenio Suarez and Phillip Ervin, who both did so Aug. 17 in Chicago
  • Mets catcher Kevin Plawecki became the first position player to pitch against the Reds since Jaff Decker on July 30, 2015
  • Joey Votto has walked in eight of his last nine plate appearances, and six consecutively
  • Scott Schebler hit a grand slam in the first inning. It was the Reds' sixth of the year, still three short of their record set in 2002
  • Schebler had five RBIs, tying a career-high (Aug. 17, 2016)
  • With Sal Romano's start, the Reds extended their season-high streak of starting six straight rookies
