Reds promote 2020 first-round pick to Dayton

Austin Hendrick, the 12th overall pick in the first round of the 2020 draft, was promoted to the Dayton Dragons on Tuesday. The Dragons and Cincinnati Reds announced that roster move.

Hendrick, the 10th-ranked prospect in the Reds organization, according to MLB.com and Fangraphs, hit .205 with seven home runs and 21 RBIs in 35 games with the Daytona Tortugas. He also played for Daytona last season and hit .211 with seven home runs and 29 RBIs in 65 games.

Hendrick has started 27 games in right field this season and six in center field. He will become the 20th player drafted in the top 30 picks to play for the Dragons, following Austin Kearns, Homer Bailey, Jay Bruce, Devin Mesoraco, Nick Senzel, Tyler Stephenson, Hunter Greene, Jonathan India, Nick Lodolo, Matt McLain and others.

The Dragons also announced outfielder Jack Rogers has been transferred from Dayton to Daytona, while Jake Fraley, who completed a rehab appearance Sunday, has been removed from the roster.
