Cincinnati Reds starter Luis Castillo was named the National League Pitcher of the Month for March and April on Thursday.
Castillo (3-1, 1.45), who makes his next start Sunday against the San Francisco Giants at Great American Ball Park, leads the National League in ERA and ranks second in strikeouts (50). He has made seven starts and allowed seven earned runs in 43 1/3 innings.

Dating back to Sept. 1 of last season, Castillo is 6-2 with a baseball-best 1.30 ERA in 12 appearances.
The Reds lost 1-0 to the Mets on Thursday to split a four-game series. At 13-18, they are tied with the Giants for the third-worst record in the league and trail the first-place St. Louis Cardinals by 7½ games.
