Reds trying to take two out of three in Atlanta

Joey Votto, the National League leader in walks, struck out on three pitches Wednesday in the first inning and started arguing with home-plate umpire Carlos Torres.

“That’s high,” said Votto, who could be heard on the Fox Sports Ohio broadcast.

The argument escalated from there, and Torres ejected Votto from the final game of a three-game series in Atlanta. Brandon Dixon took Votto’s place at first base. Votto’s hitting .302. He was 0-for-4 Tuesday in a 5-3 victory over the Braves.

The Reds, who have won 11 of their last 14 games, are trying to win their third series in a row. They swept two games from the Detroit Tigers and then four games from the Chicago Cubs. The Reds and Braves split the first two games of this series.
