Report: Bulls star Butler could push for trade to Cavs

Jimmy Butler may be ready to strengthen the Cavaliers.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, LeBron James and Kyrie Irving have reached out directly and through back channels to Butler over the past few days and have reached positive responses from the Bulls' All-Star. The report added the Butler could push the Bulls front office to make a deal happen, and that a third team might be necessary to pull off a deal since the Cavs don't have the right assets to deal directly with Chicago.

Butler is vacationing in Europe, according to the report, and could not be reached for comment, while the Bulls front office doesn’t “comment on rumors.’’

The one Cavs player mentioned in most trade talks recently is Kevin Love, who just finished his third season in Cleveland and has two more years on his current contract (with a player option for 2019). According to Cleveland.com, however, a more likely landing spot for Love could be Indiana in exchange for All-Star forward Paul George.
