A 14-year NFL veteran, Nugent most recently played in 2018 with the Oakland Raiders. He spent seven seasons (2010-16) with the Bengals. For his career, he has made 81.4 percent (253-of-311) of his field-goal attempts.

Nugent reportedly was one of seven kickers the Patriots worked out the last two days to replace Stephen Gostkowski, who is out for the season with a hip injury.
An Ohio State grad, Nugent, 37, recently was inducted into the school's athletic hall of fame.
