H.S. Results for 4/1: Ross baseball gets two walk-off wins

The Ross baseball team was slated for a doubleheader Saturday, but ended up playing 20 innings in a 4-3 win over St. Xavier and a 2-1 win over Wyoming.

Tyler Flick played the hero with a walk-off single in the 13th inning of the game one win against St. Xavier. Flick doubled earlier in the contest and Sam Stepaniak notched two hits.

In the second game Andrew Beebe provided the heroics, plating a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh to help Ross get another walk-off win and some hard-earned rest.

With the two wins Ross improved to 6-1.

Baseball

Centerville 11, Sevier County (TN) 4: Jared Lieberman allowed one run over six innings and Kenny Stahl blasted a two-run home run for Centerville in game one of a DH. Riley Poulton tallied three hits in a losing effort as Centerville fell to Walker Valley, the No. 8 ranked team in Tennessee, in the second game.

Miamisburg 10, Alter 0: Chris Meyers finished 3-for-4 with two doubles and six RBI and Duncan Hall and Cruz Poeppleman combined on the shutout for Miamisburg.

Lebanon 4, Glen Este 3: Bo Wilson picked up his first win of the year, Tyler Inloes finished 2-for-3 with a double and Jimmy Myers added a pair of hits to help Lebanon rally with a walk-off win.

Valley View 6, Tri-County North 5: Valley View rallied from a 5-0 deficit with four runs in the fifth and two in the sixth to take game one of the DH. TCN won game two 14-8, with Tanner Booth going 2-for-4 with three RBI and Liam Downing tallying four RBI.

Tecumseh 4, Piqua 3: Keaton Mohler plated the game-winning run in the top of the seventh for Tecumseh. Blais Hale and Nick Yeary finished 2-for-3 and Hunter Hensley was 2-for-4 with a double.

Southeastern 3, Troy Christian 2: Southeastern rallied, scoring three runs in the final two frames, to take game one of a DH. Trevor King led the way going 3-for-4 with a run scored and a RBI. Game two saw SE pull away late for a 9-2 win, with King finishing 2-for-3 with three runs scored and a RBI.

Newton 10, Emmanuel Christian 0: Treg Jackson picked up the win to improve to 2-0 and Ryan Mollette was 2-for-3 in the first game of a DH. Newton took the second game 7-1, with Nash Lavy picking up his second win of the season.

Mississinawa Valley 3, Ansonia 2: Mississinawa plated the winning run in the eighth inning after Ansonia had tied the game up in the seventh in game one of a DH. Ansonia avenged the loss with a 4-1 win in game two.

Houston 5, New Bremen 1: Isaiah Beaver struck out nine while earning the win on the mound for Houston. Luke Vonderhaar scored New Bremen’s lone run and was 3-for-4 at the plate.

New Knoxville 3, Jackson Center 2: Nathan Merges picked up his first win of the season for New Knoxville.

Softball

Hamilton 13, Walnut Hills 0: Ashley Brann hit a longball, Mya Halcomb had a pair of doubles, Allie Hudson went 3-for-3 and Autumn Griffie earned the win on the mound and went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Hamilton.

Badin 3, Fairmont 2: Nicole Rawlings picked up her fourth and fifth wins in DH action for Badin. In game one Lauren Moser went 3-for-3 with a double and Sam Sander was 2-for-4 with a double. Badin bested Clermont Northeastern 9-1 in a second game, with Rawlings striking out eight and Shelby Schmitt going 2-for-5 with two RBI.

Franklin 11, Turpin 7: Shelby Raby improved to 3-0 on the mound and Olivia Kelly went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI to lead Franklin to a split on Saturday. Franklin dropped an earlier game to Springboro 5-4. Springboro won its second game 3-2 against Turpin.

Tecumseh 22, Miami East 1: Ashley Fite notched the win on the mound and tripled, homered and drove in seven to lead Tecumseh in game one of a DH. Tecumseh beat Miami East 16-8 in game two, with Mckenzie Drews hitting a grand slam and Anna Dewitt hitting a home run and a double. Alyssa Francis homered for East.

Kenton Ridge 17, Piqua 0: Carly Turner notched her third win on the mound, striking out seven in the one-hit shutout. Peyton Fleming was 2-for-3 with a double, triple and four runs scored while Maci Runkle was 5-for-6 with three runs scored and six RBI. Kenton Ridge also won a second game 10-1 against Worthington Kilbourne, with Turner going 3-for-4 and driving in five runs.

Graham 6, Triad 5: Graham plated a pair of runs in the bottom of the eighth to win in walk-off fashion. Madison Bryant went 5-for-5 with a double and a triple and Allison Neeld was 4-for-5. Madison Dolby tallied three hits and Abby Ehrenborg two including a double for Triad.

Boys Tennis

Edgewood 3, Harrison 2: Trey Moore, Ross Hamey and David Winter all had victories to help Edgewood sweep the singles matches.

Boys Volleyball

Miamisburg picked up a trio of 2-0 wins Saturday, over Reynoldsburg, Lakota East and Chillicothe.

In the final match against Chillicothe Blake Middleton tallied 25 digs, Nate Hall had 3 aces and Dylan Burchfield notched six kills.
