In the end, Miamisburg couldn’t pull it off despite a 23 point effort by Kort Justice and 14 from Lathan Hartman.
Darius Quisenberry contributed 20 points and teammate L’Christian Smith added on 18 to secure the ten point victory for Wayne.
Wayne advances to a sectional final against rival Centerville. During the regular season, these two teams split the series. Wayne took the first game at home against Centerville, edging the Elks for a 42-38 victory. When the series arrived in Centerville, the Elks came out on top by an even slimmer margin, Centerville winning 56-53 over Wayne.
The two teams will face each other Friday, March 3 at 7:30 p.m.

Division I
Centerville 57, Bellefontaine 42: Keegan Saben recorded 23 points and Adam Velasco tacked on 13 points for Centerville in their win. Jack Clement had 15 points and Hayes Roebuck added on 10 points for in a losing effort for Bellefontaine.
Division II
Trotwood Madison 106, Eaton 44: Amir Foster tallied 23 points for Trotwood Madison, while Myles Belyeu contributed 13 points and Malachi Matthews added 11 points in their 62 point victory over Eaton. Trevor Pittman scored 11 points and Grant Sullender contributed 10 points in Eaton’s loss.
Division IV
Fairlawn 62, Botkins 34: Nathan Lessing tallied 31 points to lead Fairlawn to victory and to secure his spot as the 24th all-time scorer in Ohio with 2214 total points. Luke Bergman contributed 14 points in a losing effort for Botkins. Fairlawn outscored Botkins 30-10 in the 2nd and 3rd quarters.
Jackson Center 49, Covington 41: Brady Wildermuth had a double-double with 26 points and 11 rebounds in Jackson Center’s win over Covington. Jayce Pond scored 10 points, while Nathan Blei had 9 points and Trevor Miller had 8 in Covington’s loss.
Tri-Village 86, Tri-County North 53: Trace Couch poured in 29 points and Gavin Richards chipped in 19 for Tri-Village’s 33 point victory over Tri- County North. Bailey Lairson scored 22 points for Tri-County North.
Temple Christian 46, New Knoxville 40: Brody Bowman scored 27 points and Noah Howell added on 13 points to lead Temple Christian to victory. Nathan Tinnerman tallied 23 points for the New Knoxville.
St. Henry 72, Waynefield-Goshem 37: Caden Niekamp and Tyler Schlarman both netted 13 points each while Ryan Luttermer contributed 12 points for a St. Henry’s victory. Kale Kauffman had 10 points and Jarrod Bly scored 8 points for WG in the loss.
New Bremen 65, Ada 31: Nolan Bornhorst put up 16 points and Tate Meyers tacked on 12 points in the 34 point victory that was only New Bremen’s second win all season. Owen Conley had 10 points and Seth Evans added on 9 points for Ada.

MidWest Athletic Conference All Team
Versailles’ junior Justin Ahrens was unanimously voted the 2016-2017 MAC Boys Basketball Player of the Year. Ahrens is also a verbal commit to Ohio State. First year coach Travis Swank (Versailles) was also recognized as the 2016-2017 MAC Boys Basketball Coach of the Year.
