HS Roundup 2/12: Curtis joins 2,000 point club in Xenia win

With his 27th point of the night on a free throw in the third quarter Cincinnati basketball commit Samari Curtis recorded his 2,000th career point in the Xenia boys basketball squad’s 86-72 road win versus West Carrollton on Tuesday.

Curtis, the all-time leading scorer for Xenia, finished with 42 points on the night to put his career total at 2,015. Noah Crawford added 16 and Dylan Hoosier 14 for Xenia.

Xenia, which improved to 12-9, will face Fairborn on Friday to close out the regular season.

Curtis is the third area player to pass the 2,000 point mark this season, joining Amari Davis of Trotwood and Corinne Thomas of Tecumseh.

Boys Basketball

Butler 47, Sidney 41: With a ninth consecutive victory Butler clinched at least a share of the Greater Western Ohio Conference North title. The Aviators can win it outright with a victory against Tippecanoe on Friday.

Centerville 70, Beavercreek 47: Mo Njie totaled 13 points and Kaleb Mitchell and Ryan Marchal added 11 apiece in a big win for Centerville to keep pace in the Greater Western Ohio Conference East. Centerville will host Wayne on Friday with a share of the league title on the line. Chris Herbort tallied 16 points for Beavercreek.

Chaminade Julienne 75, Lima Central Catholic 72: Jack Nauseef exploded for 31 points to help CJ prevail in a second-straight overtime contest.

Dunbar 71, Ponitz 68, OT: Greg Packnett netted 24 points to lead Dunbar in the overtime victory.

Eaton 63, Talawanda 58: Travis Pittman put up 21 points, Hunter Frost added 11 and Eaton held off a Talawanda rally. David Kraushar scored 19 points in a losing effort for Talawanda.

Fenwick 62, Oakwood 54: C.J. Napier poured in 31 points for Fenwick, which pulled ahead from a tie game in the last three minutes. Darren Rubin countered with 28 points for Oakwood.

Fort Loramie 55, Fairlawn 39: Nathan Raterman netted 14 points and Eli Rosengarten 11 for Fort Loramie, which put the game out of reach in the second half. Ashton Piper paced Fairlawn with 15 points.

Greenon 47, Greeneview 32: Cade Rice recorded 19 points and Andrew Conover 11 for Greenon. Collin Wilson had 13 points in a losing effort for Greeneview.

Houston 71, Bradford 42: John Leist and Peyton Arnold recorded 14 points apiece to pace Houston. Gage Wills totaled 16 points for Bradford.

Lebanon 48, Edgewood 42: Zach Huffman scored 18 points and Lebanon opened the game on a 15-0 run and never looked back.

Mechanicsburg 48, Emmanuel Christian 42: Chris Taylor finished with 14 points to lead Mechanicsburg. Fred Shropshire had 20 points for Emmanuel Christian and Adonis Davis added a double-double effort.

Miami Valley 58, Jefferson 48: Jake Wange led four players in double-digit scoring for Miami Valley with 16 points.

Miamisburg 58, Fairborn 45: Brett Hensley led ‘Burg with 16 points and Duncan Hall and Corey Hartman tacked on 12 apiece. Shaunn Monroe scored 27 points for Fairborn.

New Bremen 41, Troy Christian 26: Nolan Bornhorst chipped in 14 points for New Bremen, which jumped ahead early.

Trotwood 125, Stebbins 62: The win moved Trotwood to 19-2 overall and 14-0 in conference play. It also marked a sixth consecutive game where Trotwood scored over 100 points.

Urbana 55, West Liberty-Salem 54: Isaiah Fonseca put up 24 points and Grant Hower tacked on 14 for Urbana. Holden Nease led WLS with 17 points.

Girls Basketball

Coldwater 63, Elida 40: Lauren Gilliland led Coldwater with 23 points and 11 rebounds and Alli May added 19 points.

Fort Loramie 68, Marion Local 50: Kenzi Hoelscher had 15 points and Dana Rose 11 for Fort Loramie, which improved to 21-1.
