A battle of two highly successful teams didn’t disappoint.

Edgewood’s Eric Brooks hit a floater with 1.5 seconds left to push the Cougars past Badin on the road, 46-44. Edgewood, 6-3, hadn’t defeated the Rams, 8-2, since the 2008-09 season.

Badin’s Donovan Watkins hit a layup to tie the game at 44, setting the stage for Banks’ heroics.

Additionally, two local athletes had memorable nights on Saturday.

Darren Rubin’s third-quarter three-pointer made him Oakwood’s all-time leading scorer, passing Leo Flotron. The Lumberjacks (6-4) defeated Carlisle 74-44; Rubin had 24.

Emmanuel Christian guard Fred Shropshire cruised past 1,000 career points as the Lions defeated Greenon, 61-51. Shropshire had 18 points and 5 assists. The Lions are 7-2 on the season.
