HS Roundup 12/28: St. Henry, Brookville, Eaton and more win tourneys

St. Henry, Brookville, Eaton and other local squads shined in area tournaments Saturday.

The Redskins defeated Coldwater, 67-43, to win its third straight Asset Allocation Associates tournament and its fifth in the last eight seasons. Riley Link drained four three-pointers and led all scorers with 17 to lead St. Henry. Ben Evers added 10. Coldwater was paced by Noah Miller’s 10 points and 8 rebounds.

Meanwhile, the Blue Devils won the Jet Holiday Championship tourney with a 65-37 win over Franklin Monroe. AJ Eller led the Devils with 17, Manny Willis added 15.

Eaton scratched out a close win over a game Ansonia, 40-37, to claim the Patriot Classic Holiday Tournament. Hunter Frost was named tournament MVP.

Covington defeated Milton-Union by just one point, 33-32, to win the Buccaneer Holiday Classic. Morgan Kimmel was named tournament MVP; Claudia Harrington and Claire Fraley earned all-tournament honors.

Girls Basketball

Miamisburg 73, Xenia 33: Three Vikings scored in double figures, led by Anna Long’s 21, Abby Carter’s 18 and Addison Frymoyer’s 13. Miamisburg jumped out to a big halftime lead and didn’t look back.

Coldwater 41, St. Henry 33: Kate Leichty led the way with 12 points. Riley Rismiller had 9 points and 5 rebounds. Lauren Gilliland had 7 points and 15 rebounds. Paige Siefring added 7 points and 4 rebounds. Courtney May had 6 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds.

New Bremen 56, Lehman Catholic 47: Rylier Mciver had 18 for Lehman; Anna Cianciolo chipped in 10.

Mechanicsburg 68, Cedarville 20: Kasey Schipfer led an overwhelming win for Mechanicsburg, leading the way with 15 points, four assists, and seven steals.

Oak Hills 54, Milford 29: Dy’Jhanik Armfield had 16 points and grabbed 9 boards as Oak Hills ran out to a big half time lead and held on.

Sycamore 53, Anderson 47: Leah Riley had 19 points — hitting 4 three-pointers — and Aliah McWhorter added 17 to carry Sycamore past Anderson. MacKenzie Burdick and Elizabeth Homan had 14 for Anderson.

West Clermont 45, Lebanon 35: Kendall Folley dropped 10 for Lebanon; Sam Feldmann had 8 points and grabbed 10 boards.

Bradford 54, National Trail 51: Austy Miller led Bradford with 17, aided by Remi Harleman’s 15 and Alexis Barhorst’s 12. Bradford is now 7-2. MacKenna Laird had 20 for National Trail.

New Bremen 57, Lehman Catholic 47: Kaylee Freund had 17 points; Madison Cordonnier added 15 for victorious New Bremen.

Chaminade-Julienne 49, Kenton Ridge 35: Jordyn Varise and Jessica Brunner both had 11 for the Eagles. A dominant fourth-quarter performance gave CJ the win.

Badin 47, Monroe 44: Badin’s Lizzie Meyer drained a three-pointer in the final minute to tie the game at 44, then sank another one with 10 seconds left to win it.

Boys Basketball

Loveland 51, Mason 46: Brysen King dropped 12 and Matthew Smith added 11 for the Comets.

Belmont 66, Northridge 49: Isaiah McCallop scored 13, Shawn Shehee dropped 10 and Cameron Evans added 11 for the Polar Bears.

Waynesville 65, Goshen 57: Mac Greely had 16, Ryan Papanek added 14 and Bryce Nolbertowicz and Kohl Todd both had 12 for Waynesville.

McNicholas 47, Morristown-Hamblen West (TN) 33: Larry Kocisko shot the ball well along the way to 15 points for McNick. Evan Brunot dropped 12.

Coldwater 55, Marion Local 52: Zack McKibben had 13 and Noah Miller added 10.

Wrestling

Graham won the Greater Miami Valley Wrestling Association Tournament on Saturday in the small school division with a team score of 227. Nolan Gessler won at 106 pounds, Nick Hart won at 126 pounds and Nolan Neves won at 220. Chris Kelly, Nick Moore, Alek Martin, Trace Braun and Camden McDaniel were all runner ups.
