HS Roundup 9/26: Jones leads National Trail at D-II sectional

Medalist Makenna Jones shot an 83 to help the National Trail girls golf squad win Wednesday’s Division II sectional tournament at Stillwater Valley.

Ben Logan, Versailles and Miami East also qualified, with East needing a fifth-score tiebreak to edge Anna for the final spot.

Eva Bolin of Fort Loramie was the runner-up at 86 to qualify individually, along with Eaton’s Ainesleigh Elstro, Riverside’s Dana Jones and Anna’s Breah Kuck.

Paige Lawson of Miami East and Sydney Wesson of Ben Logan tied for third at 87 and Eaton’s Elstro and Mailiis Simovart of Ben Logan each shot a 91.

Girls Golf

GWOC Tournament: The Centerville, Lebanon, Springboro and Beavercreek teams each qualified for the final round of the GWOC Tournament to be played on Saturday. Centerville’s Marissa Wenzler shot a 72 for medalist honors and teammates Kayla Ramsey and Meha Pandya tied for runner-up at 75.

Girls Tennis

Alter 3, Centerville 2: Alter’s first doubles duo of Rachel Hawley and Sara Yacoub rallied for a 6-3 third-set victory to help Alter improve to 15-1.

Southwestern Buckeye League Southwestern Division Tournament: Oakwood had a clean sweep of the final rounds, highlighted by singles wins from Lily McCloskey, Sarah Hall and Katie Ritschel.

Boys Soccer

Northwestern 4, Kenton Ridge 3: Alex Bainbridge netted two goals with an assist to pace Northwestern and Dalton McGill added a goal and an assist.

Tecumseh 3, Ben Logan 3: Elijah Hall, Enrique Ruiz and Emmanuel Gutierrez each recorded a goal for Tecumseh.

Girls Soccer

Badin 2, Chaminade Julienne 1: Macy Harper dropped in the game-winning goal for Badin. Katie Baird had the lone goal for CJ.

Fairmont 5, Springfield 1: Drew Barr scored two goals and Jules Piersall tacked on two assists for Fairmont.

Tecumseh 9, Ben Logan 0: Mae Mastin, Taylor Sisco and Gatlyn Berner drove in a pair of goals apiece to pace Tecumseh.

Girls Volleyball

Dixie 3, Carlisle 1: Samantha Shell and Sydney Creamer posted nine kills apiece and Madison Simon added 17 assists with seven aces for Dixie.

Troy 3, Greenville 0: Shelby Herman had 18 digs and three aces in a losing effort for Greenville.
