HS Roundup 12/13: Stivers holds on late for win versus Ponitz

Stivers built an early lead and held off a Ponitz rally late for a 77-76 win in boys basketball action on Friday.

Doug Spears and Allen Lattimore scored 21 points apiece to pace Stivers. Trevon Ellis added 14 and DaJuan Allen 13.

Malik Simmons paced Ponitz with 17 points, Dayjuan Anderson tacked on 16 and Peyton Lyons 13.

Boys Basketball

Alter 60, Roger Bacon 20: Brady Uhl chipped in 25 points to pace Alter, which closed the game on a 28-6 run.

Ansonia 51, Newton 41: Mitchell Montgomery scored 13 points in a losing effort for Newton.

Beavercreek 57, Fairmont 40: Five players scored in double-digits for ‘Creek, led by Mali Harris-Strayhorn with 12 points. Yousef Saleh added 11 and Siloam Baldwin, Chris Herbort and Adam Duvall added 10 apiece.

Delphos SJ’s 43, Minster 40: Isaac Fairchild put up 13 points and Aiden Rode added 10 to help DSJ hold off a Minster rally. Justin Nixon paced Minster with 15 points.

Edgewood 67, Northwest 63, OT: A pair of double-double performances paced Edgewood. John Shepherd racked up 26 points with 11 rebounds and Aaron Frazier had 15 points with 16 rebounds.

Fort Loramie 55, Houston 30: Caeleb Meyer scored nine of his 12 points in the opening quarter as Fort Loramie got off to a hot start. Jake Leist scored 12 points for Houston.

Greeneview 58, Madison Plains 48: Cole Allen dropped in 20 points, Rhett Burtch 19 and Gabe Caudill 15 to pace Greeneview.

Greenon 43, Catholic Central 41: Jaden Journell and Mason Potter combined for 30 points to pace Greenon. Ashton Young led Catholic Central with 14 points.

Hamilton 71, Princeton 68: Trey Robinson tallied 26 points, Kristian Walton added 14 and Quincy Simms-Marshall 12 for Hamilton.

Lakota East 64, Colerain 28: Nate Johnson and Jadon Coles led Lakota East with 15 points apiece.

Lakota West 74, Middletown 64: Julian Mackey scored a career-high 28 points and Carter Combs tacked on 18 to lead Lakota West.

Madison 67, Carlisle 52: Grant Whisman poured in 28 points and Jake Edwards added 21 to help Madison improve to 4-0. Roman Newsome had 21 points for Carlisle.

McNicholas 66, Chaminade Julienne, OT: Sean Menker scored 22 points in a losing effort for CJ.

Miami East 77, Bradford 26: Tyler Stapleton paced Miami East with 22 points, Brandon Bertsch added 14 and Sam Zapadka 11.

Miamisburg 61, Northmont 38: Corey Fries scored 18 points, all off three-point baskets, and Luke Copsey tacked on 12 points to lead Miamisburg.

National Trail 49, Arcanum 27: Zach Woodall totaled 19 points for unbeaten National Trail, which opened the game on a 24-4 run to. Cameron Harrison added 14 points and Tyler Weathington pulled down 12 rebounds.

New Bremen 78, New Knoxville 39: Reece Busse put up 20 points and Zack Bertke added 12 for New Bremen.

New Miami 74, Lockland 55: Deanza Duncan and Trey Robinette combined for 40 points to lead the New Miami attack.

Northeastern 49, Triad 26: Jake Nichols netted 13 points and Noah Fenton 10 for Northeastern. Ayden Spriggs led Triad with 10 points.

Piqua 47, Xenia 44: Garrett Schrubb scored 16 points and Dresean Roberts added 12 to pace Piqua in the rally victory. Dylan Hoosier netted nine of his 17 points in the fourth quarter for Xenia.

Ross 66, Harrison 30: Max Stepaniak recorded 22 points with nine rebounds and eight blocks to lead Ross. Jimmy Booker added 11 points and Cole Gronas 10.

Sidney 68, Butler 55: Darren Taborn turned in a career-high 24 points and Lathan Jones added 13 to help Sidney move to 4-0.

St. Henry 60, Coldwater 49: Ben Evers tallied 13 points and Matt Bertke and Riley Link tacked on 12 apiece for St. Henry. Ethan Post scored 12 points to lead Coldwater.

Tri-County North 59, Twin Valley South 48: Brian Stinson scored 22 points to lead TCN. Cole Peterson had 23 points for TVS.

Trotwood 93, Springboro 61: Tymier Blanton put up 21 points off the bench to help Trotwood get off to a 2-0 start.
