HS Roundup 2/25: Wayne, Centerville boys to meet in sectional final

Cam Fancher sealed Wayne’s 55-50 overtime win versus Carroll with a pair of foul shots in a Division I boys basketball sectional semifinal on Tuesday night.

Malcolm Curry led the way with 17 points and Lawrent Rice and Fancher added 11 apiece.

The win advanced Wayne to a sectional final matchup against Centerville on Friday at Trotwood.

Centerville eliminated Fairborn 80-29 on Tuesday.

Gabe Cupps scored 15 points, Rich Rolf 13 and Mo Njie 12 to pace Centerville.

Centerville and and Wayne squared off twice this season, with Wayne earning a pair of slim victories, a 52-50 win in December and a 35-33 win on Feb. 7.

SECTIONAL TOURNAMENT

Botkins 58, Riverside 33: Jayden Priddy-Powell tallied 14 points and Jacob Pleiman added 13 for Botkins, which pulled away from a tie game after the first quarter with an 18-5 run.

Cin. Christian 79, Middletown Christian 34: K.J. Swain dropped in 19 points and Logan Woods and Kai Vance added 18 apiece for Cin. Christian, which has won 13 of its last 14 games.

Emmanuel Christian 45, Legacy Christian 33: Fred Shropshire totaled 15 points and Casey Swank 10 for Emmanuel Christian, winners of 20 straight.

Fort Loramie 39, Mississinawa Valley 25: Nate Meyer had seven of his 11 points in the first quarter to spur Fort Loramie.

Lakota West 74, Mason 66: Julian Mackey poured in 34 points, including 15 made free throws, to lead Lakota West. Carter Combs and Brady Weber tacked on 12 apiece.

Madison 54, Mechanicsburg 40: Grant Whisman netted 13 points and Matt Gomia added 12 for Madison, which opened the game on a 17-5 run. Jake Edwards paced ‘Burg with 11 points.

Milton-Union 61, Arcanum 25: Blake Brumbaugh chipped in 14 points, Sam Case added 13, Nate Brumbaugh 11 and Brandon Lavy 10 for Milton-Union.

Preble Shawnee 64, Dayton Christian 35: Bryce Singleton scored 17 points and Gunner Powers added 14 for Preble Shawnee. Isaiah Edwards finished with 14 points for Dayton Christian.

Trotwood 83, Bellefontaine 48: Carl Blanton scored 20 points in the first quarter alone to pace Trotwood, which opened the game on a 37-8 run.
