Silverbacks sign TD king Rayshawn Askew

TROTWOOD — Versatile Rayshawn Askew, who has scored more touchdowns than anyone in pro football history and has played on three championship teams, signed with the Dayton Silverbacks on Monday.

A running back, receiver and kick returner who has played for the National Indoor Football League’s Lincoln Capitols, Cincinnati Marshals and Ohio Valley Greyhounds, Askew has 210 career touchdowns (Jerry Rice, the NFL leader, retired with 208). He has rushed for 4,438 yards, making him the all-time leading rusher in indoor football history.

Askew also played for the GLIFL/CIFL’S Port Huron Pirates, leading them to a 12-0 record, and for the UIFL’s Lexington Horseman, for whom he scored his 210th career TD.
