Sinclair baseball advances at NJCAA World Series

Sinclair rallied from a 4-0 deficit to defeat Mercer County (N.J.) 12-8 on Wednesday to advance to the quarterfinals in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division II World Series at David Allen Memorial Ballpark.

Zeth Tanner went 4-for-4 with three doubles and three runs scored, Billy Kidd was 3-for-4 and drove in two runs, Tyler Cowles went 3-for-3 with a double and two runs scored and Nick Massey tripled and drove in a pair of runs to pace the Pride offensively. Sinclair tallied 16 hits overall.

Ryan Falls picked up the win in relief while Travis Rowland notched the save.

The game was suspended in the fifth inning Tuesday night and the teams waited out another rain delay on Wednesday.

Weather pushed back the Pride’s quarterfinal matchup with Gateway (Ariz.) to 8 p.m. Thursday. Sinclair and Gateway are the only unbeaten teams left — both are 2-0 — in the 10-team double-elimination tournament.
