Dutch Lions sign deal to play in West Carrollton

The Dayton Dutch Lions will play home games at West Carrollton's stadium as part of a $529,000 deal involving facility upgrades and a 30-year lease, it was announced this morning.

The agreement, which includes the Dutch Lions, the West Carrollton school district and the Dayton Outpatient Center, will entail installing synthetic turf, naming rights for the outpatient center and other renovations, officials said.

The Dutch Lions have played their home games at Beavercreek High School. They are scheduled to play their first home game in West Carrollton May 10, officials said.

Aside from the turf installation, the renovations will involve installing lights at the high school practice fields, constructing a cover over the home stands at Dayton Outpatient Center Field, and increased signage to be visible from Interstate 75, said West Carrollton Superintendent Rusty Clifford.

"When you drive up and down I-75, you'll know that this is the home of the Dayton Dutch Lions," he said.

The Dutch Lions were considering locations in the area to build a professional soccer stadium and youth complex. One of those sites was in Washington Twp., but team officials said this week they were no longer pursuing a site in the township.

In addition to Beavercreek schools, the Dutch Lions have partnered with West Carrollton schools and Miami Valley School.
