The Marvin Lewis era ended Monday, according to reports, as the Cincinnati Bengals parted ways with their head coach of the last 16 seasons.
Lewis lost seven of his last eight games, including his final one, 16-13 to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday. His final record was 131-122-3.
Here’s how people reacted to the news on Twitter:
Marvin Lewis being fired doesn't change things all that much. #Bungles are still the #Bungles as long as Mike Brown and family owns the team.

Marvin Lewis jokes are easy layup but let’s not forget the Bengals were the laughingstock of the NFL before he showed up. Didn’t have a season above .500 between 1991 and 2004. The playoff L’s are brutal but Lewis did a lot in Cincy.

Before it got real stale, Marvin Lewis pulled off one of the most impressive rebuilding jobs of the aughts.

The last time Marvin Lewis wasn't the Bengals coach, the #1 film in America was Kangaroo Jack. pic.twitter.com/69jIasULtY

Marvin Lewis was a godsend to Bengals fans in 2002. His tenure lasted longer than it should have, but that isn’t his fault. Thanks, Marvin.

My understanding is Marvin Lewis is not retiring. The end of his 16-year run as #Bengals coach was part of a collaborative process with owner Mike Brown, who made the final call. Everyone agreed it was time to move on. https://t.co/jXiexhObi9

Marvin Lewis reportedly out as Bengals coach, leaving with the same number of playoff wins as Dave Shula, Bruce Coslet and Dick LeBeau
