Troy lineman commits to Bowling Green

Troy High School lineman Dawson Hildebrand announced Sunday he has verbally committed to the Bowling Green Falcons football program.

The 6-foot-3, 332-pound Hildebrand received a Miami Valley League honorable mention last season. Bowling Green offered him a scholarship in February.

In recent weeks, Hildebrand received scholarship offers from Findlay, Tulane, Western Illinois and others.

According to the Troy Daily News, Hildebrand did not play high school football until his junior season. He played for a Trojans team that finished 8-3 and reached the playoffs for the fourth straight season.

He attended Newton High School his first two years and finished fifth in the Division III state track and field meet in the shot put as a sophomore. He also was a state qualifier in the discus. He finished fourth in the shot put as a freshman.
