Why was Kline’s shot special?
Because it represents another milestone in his recovery from bone cancer.
Austin’s mother, Tracie Thomas, told this news organization her son enjoyed playing baseball when he was younger.
However, he was diagnosed with bone cancer and had to have his lower right leg amputated when he was eight.
“He played a lot of baseball before getting sick and then he tried it once after and didn’t do so well, so he moved on to a different sport,” Thomas said.
Enter basketball.
Kline is new to the game, but it offers him a chance to get active again.
And, it turns out, to become a little bit of an internet star.
The video popping up on social media was a surprise, but Thomas said her son didn’t mind at all.
“He said it was awesome.”
