What’s the future hold for Jeremy Hill?

Bengals running back Jeremy Hill , seen here last season, was the man, or one of them, at Tuesday's training camp practice as he gathered teammates together for an impromptu social media photo. He sure doesn't look like there's any bad blood between the running backs and linebackers, even after Vontaze Burfict went low on Giovanni Bernard and upset Cincy coaches.

Jeremy Hill ran hard in the Bengals’ preseason win over the Bucs, but it was rookie Joe Mixon whose shiftiness caught fans’ and evaluators’ eyes.

Hill isn’t out of the mix just yet. He had seven rushes for 26 yards in the opener, and hasn’t been supplanted by Mixon just yet.

In an NFL.com article creating fantasy trades, Marc Sessler suggested trading Hill to the New York Giants for a late-round draft pick.

Giovani Bernard has practiced but is still recovering from ACL surgery. The Bengals tend to ride the hot hand, which hasn’t been Hill in the past two seasons.

Tra Carson ran the ball eight times last Friday. Cincinnati could theoretically replace Hill with Carson to spell the Bernard-Mixon duo, once both are up to speed.

There have been no reported extension talks between Hill and the Bengals.

After consecutive disappointing seasons, plus the team investing a second rounder in Mixon, Hill’s a near lock to explore the open market. But in the meantime, he hasn’t relinquished his ball carrier duties in Cincinnati. At least not yet.
