Women's Amatuer Match Play title goes to Hillsboro woman

MIDDLETOWN — Amanda Dixon of Hillsboro defeated Centerville’s Molly Ginger, 2 and 1, to win the Dayton Women’s Amateur Match Play championship at Wildwood Golf Club.

The 21-year-old Dixon atoned for taking a 9 and 8 thrashing from Ginger in the 2009 championship match at Yankee Trace and losing to Kathleen Glavin by the same margin in last year’s final at Beavercreek.

This time Dixon came up with clutch putts in a 35-hole tug-of-war, much of which was played in rain.

“I’m more experienced in match play, and I think my game has matured overall,” Dixon told miamivalley golf.org, adding, “Today the putts were falling.”
