Women’s basketball: Dayton to play GW or Richmond in A-10 quarterfinals

UD received first-round by earning one of top-two seeds

The Dayton Flyers women’s basketball team will open the Atlantic 10 tournament Friday as the No. 1 seed, playing No. 8 seed George Washington (14-15, 8-8) or No. 9 seed Richmond (14-16, 7-9) in the quarterfinals at 11 a.m. at UD Arena.

Dayton (22-8, 15-1) closed the regular season Saturday with a 78-66 victory at Saint Louis. The Flyers won the regular-season title by two games over Virginia Commonwealth (18-11, 13-3).

Dayton seeks its first A-10 tournament championship since 2017 and its third overall. It also won in 2012.

The first-round games will be held on campus sites, while the quarterfinals, semifinals and championship game will be held at UD Arena. Dayton and No. 2 seed VCU received first-round byes.
