Wright State wins bid to NCAA baseball tourney

Bouncing back from a tough loss in the first game of the Horizon League championship Saturday, Wright State blitzed Milwaukee 17-4 in the nightcap in Whiting, Ind., to win the league and its automatic NCAA Tournament bid.

The Raiders (41-15), who will make their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2011 and fifth as a Horizon League member, were seven outs from beating Milwaukee in the first game before losing 5-4.

They quickly regrouped and responded to a must-win situation by scoring early and often against the stunned Panthers, posting a pair of six-run innings and leaving no doubt this time.

Gabe Snyder’s grand slam set off a frenzied celebration in the WSU dugout as the lead ballooned to 14-3.
