Air pollution advisory issued for weekend

An air pollution advisory has been issued for Clark, Greene, Miami and Montgomery counties for this weekend and Monday.

The Air Quality Index reading is expected to be above 100 for Saturday, Sunday and Monday, which is “unhealthy for sensitive groups”

Any reading at 100 or higher is deemed “unhealthy for sensitive groups.” It’s important for people to take action to reduce ground-level ozone (smog), especially on days an advisory is issued. Here are some ways to reduce ground-level ozone:

  • Avoid driving if possible
  • Refuel your vehicle after 6 p.m.
  • If you drive, combine trips
  • Limit use of small gasoline-powered equipment
  • Mow your lawn after 6 p.m.
