Around Valentine’s Day is also the beginning of skunk mating season in Ohio. So, that may not quite be some strange spring flowers you are smelling but more of a toxic brew of valentine’s day love from your local black and white striped friends. On a side note, be sure to watch your pets. Skunks are and will be very active for the next few weeks and many too curious dogs have a tendency, well, to accidentally get caught up in this smelly skunk ritual.
On the bright side, skunk mating season is just a sign that spring is just around the corner though. In fact, it is less than 35 days away. Although from the weather we had over the past weekend, it seems spring may be arriving early. Believe it or not, we have had just as many days with 60-plus degree temperatures since winter started as we’ve had with days of more than a trace of snowfall. That is amazing.
