Flash flood watch continues, wind advisory issued; big temperature swing coming Friday

DETAILED FORECAST

OVERNIGHT: Rain will taper off tonight, but as it does it may briefly transition to snow. Little to no accumulation is expected in areas where this develops. While drying out, flooding still remains a problem.

“Never drive through flooded roads. Six inches of water can stall a car, 1 foot of water can float a car and 2 feet of flowing water can sweep a car away,” Vrydaghs said. 

It may become difficult to see deeper spots especially at night. Overnight lows will fall to the lower 20s, so perhaps some slick spots could develop. Watch bridges and overpasses especially.

FRIDAY: Temperatures will be much colder to start the day and will continue through the day. Temperatures will start in the middle to upper 20s in the morning but will fall through the day to around 20 degrees in the afternoon.

Winds will be gusty through the first half of the day with gusts reaching 25 to 35 mph.

We’ll be dry during the day and clearing skies at night will allow temperatures to continue to fall to around 10 degrees at night.

SATURDAY: A bitter cold morning with temperatures starting around 10 degrees. Some sunshine for the afternoon with highs reaching the upper 20s.

SUNDAY: The day starts off off quiet and dry and high temperatures will reach the upper 30s. Clouds will increase into the afternoon as the next system will bring moisture back for the evening likely a mix of rain and snow. We could see a light accumulation by Monday morning.

MONDAY: Some slick spots are possible early from the wintry mix on Sunday. Showers continue to move out to the south, leading to some dry time during the day. Temperatures will be cool again with highs reaching the upper 30s.
