The storm is moving east around 8 mph and will continue to do so through the day. Emily is expected to weaken as it moves over Florida, but may strengthen back to a tropical storm when it gets back over water and moves up the Atlantic.

The biggest impact from Emily will come from very heavy rain. Central and southern Florida could see 1 to 4 inches of rain. The highest totals could fall along the west coast from Tampa Bay through Naples, where more than seven inches of rain could be locally produced.

There is also a severe weather threat, with the possibility of an isolated tornado.
