More showers and thunderstorms are expected this evening, Storm Center 7 Meteorologist Brett Collar said.

Some storms could give way to locally heavy rain as well as lightning and thunder.

A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for the entire region through 8 p.m. Sunday, issued by the National Weather Service in Wilmington. Flooding and gusty winds are possible with rainfall, Collar said. The rain will taper off for most overnight, but a couple showers may linger. Temperatures overnight will fall into the lower 70s.

Sunday: More showers and storms are expected. Flash flooding is possible, especially early. A Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through 8 p.m. Highs will be near 80 degrees.

Monday: More showers and storms are expected, some of which could be strong to severe. Highs will be in the lower 80s.

Tuesday: The chance for more rain continues. Highs will be in the lower 80s.

Wednesday: The slight chance for rain exists, though it does appear those chances are a bit smaller. Highs will be in the lower 80s.

Thursday: Showers and thunderstorms are possible. Highs will be in the mid-80s.
