If you're looking for something more experimental and abstract, check out Skeleton Dust Records on Friday evening. They're hosting an art opening for Dayton's Jonathanen Brojazz, an abstract video artist. The opening event pairs his video art with his experimental sound project mASScOMM (performing live). Also performing is Iovae
(Cincinna), described as deep space oscillations, and Begravd (Piqua), making their debut performance. Starts at 7pm.
You know it's going to be a party when you see Cherry Lee & The Hot Rod Hounds on the bill! They're gonna have people dancing to their original old style country and rock-a-billy originals at Blind Bob's. 9:30pm. $5 cover. 21+

One of the most anticipated events of the weekend is Mick Montgomery's
event at
The beloved Dayton music figure is writing a memoir of his experiences, and would love to have Dayton music fans contribute!
Mick and Yellow Cab invite you to this special reunion and special evening of storytelling about memories of Canal Street Tavern. If you ever listened to music here, worked here, drank here, or just hung out here, this show is for you! Admission is free, but donations will be accepted to help Mick with publishing his book. Event from 7pm-12:30am
For the many of you who are missing David Bowie, there is a special event for you this weekend too! The Dayton Philharmonic presents Space Oddity: David Brighton as David Bowie. Mr. Brighton is considered one the world's best David Bowie impersonators. Performing Bowie's music, paired with the power of the full Dayton Philharmonic, makes for an unforgettable evening. Afterwards, head right on over to

Rock fans have a fun night in store at Blind Bob's with Life In Idle (9:00-9:35), You vs. Yesterday (9:50-10:30), Heavy Things (10:45-11:25), The Forty (11:40-12:20). +21 (must have valid ID). $5 cover.
Visit, a Cincy band featuring former members of the Lexington band Noble Giants, make their way back to Dayton for a night of music at Trolley Stop. Their influences are Tame Impala, Beach House, Bon Iver, and Local Natives. Sounds interesting! Music starts at 9:30pm with a $5 admission.
Two new bands on my radar are performing Saturday night at Jimmie's Ladder 11: Brother Rabi and the Soul Seekers and Vinyl Monologue. This is a fun place to check out new music, and get some food too! Music gets started around 9pm. $5 cover.
North of town, heavy rock is on tap at Oscar's Bar with Secret Circle Society, Evil Eye Gyp$y, and Viceroy Kings. This is going to be a rockin' show for sure! 9pm. $5 cover. 21+
