Dayton hits 80 degrees for first time since November

Temperatures in Dayton hit the 80-degree mark today for the first time in more than four months.

As of 3:20 p.m. Wednesday, it was 80 degrees at the Dayton International Airport, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

The last time the region reached 80 degrees was during the first week of November last year. It was also the latest date the area hit 80 degrees since 1950.

The mean first date for Dayton to reach 80 degrees is April 20, according to NWS. For Cincinnati and Columbus, it’s April 15 and April 19 respectively.

High temperatures for the region are expected to reach the low 80s today, about 20 degrees warmer than normal.

A chance for rain was forecasted for later this afternoon, but any showers will likely be short-lived, according to NWS. A weakening bands of thunderstorms is expected to move through the area tonight.

Thursday brings a greater chance of rain and storms. Temperatures will drop slightly, with highs forecasted in the low 70s.
