Kroger Co. donates $1M to USO

Kroger Co. donated $1 million to the United Service Organizations (USO), company officials announced.

For more than six years, Kroger has raised over $18 million in support through corporate funds and customer donations during the Honoring Our Heroes campaign. Kroger and USO hosted events for more than 3,000 service members and their families around the country during the Memorial Day weekend.

The two partners have been supporters of military duty, veterans, and families for years. As a partnership, Kroger will be once again working with USO during the Honoring Our Heroes campaigns.

“While we can never do enough to thank members of the military and their families for the sacrifices they make to serve our country every day, we can bring them around the table to share a meal,” said Jessica Adelman, Kroger’s group vice president of corporate affairs.

Kroger has continuously shown their support for veterans as they have hired over 35,000 veterans since 2009. The Cincinnati-based company held a special hiring day last year where it hired more than 4,000 veterans in one day.

“The USO is truly grateful for the Kroger family of stores and its ongoing commitment to our nation’s men and women in uniform,” said Lisa Anastasi, USO Chief Development Officer.

To make it easy for customers to help honor our heroes, Kroger is providing several ways that customers can support the campaign. Customers can honor their hero by submitting names that will display on a special Hero Wall on Kroger’s website, purchase a $5 or $10 donation card, give their hero a gift card, or buy a Coca Cola product because Coca Cola will donate $50,000 of the money to USO.
