Man in deadly Brookville police shooting takes plea deal

The man facing charges related to the death of his girlfriend, who was shot by Brookville police, accepted a deal Friday in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court.

Conrad Everett Davis, 27, accepted a bill of information, skipping grand jury proceedings and admitting guilt. Davis is a former U.S. Marine.

The incident occurred Oct. 31 and seriously wounded a Brookville officer who was shot in the arm.

Davis on Friday admitted to charges of involuntary manslaughter, felonious assault of a peace officer and felonious assault of a peace officer with a deadly weapon.

Prosecutors said Davis’ felony actions caused the death of Ashley Sides, specifically noting that he fired shots from his car at officers who were responding to an incident involving Sides at a Brookville gas station.

Brookville officers were dispatched around 9:40 p.m. Oct. 31 to assist the Ohio State Highway Patrol, which had a vehicle flee from a traffic stop. One responding officer reported locating a woman, later identified as Sides, running through an old BP lot and toward Speedway, according to the Brookville police scanner traffic.

As police were looking for the female, shots rang out at the Speedway on Arlington Road, where Sides was killed and Officer Henry Edds.

Officer Frank Graci shot and killed Sides in the incident.

Brookville police Chief Doug Jerome said his officers acted properly given the circumstances of what’s been called a shootout at 799 Arlington Road.

Sentencing for Davis will be conducted Feb. 10.
