JUST IN: Domino’s breaks the mold with new Englewood restaurant

It’s opening day today, May 3, for Domino’s Pizza in Englewood — and this restaurant has a bit of a twist.

The new pizza shop at 590 S. Main St. includes a 40-seat dining room. That’s a departure for the national pizza chain that focuses primarily on its delivery and carry-out business. The new location also has a drive-through pick-up window.

“We are really excited about the new building,” Tristan Koehler, franchise owner-operator for the Englewood restaurant and 19 other Domino’s locations in the Dayton area, said in a release. “You have a lot of options at this store. You can call ahead and go through the pick-up window, and of course there’s delivery, but now you can come on in and sit down and eat if you like.

“We think the more flexible we are, the happier our customers will be.”

Only one of Koehler’s other 19 restaurants has a dining room — and it’s in Richmond, Indiana, with 32 seats. This is his fourth Domino’s location with a drive-through window.

“We have quite a few older stores that are too small for the volume they are doing, and they MUST be relocated,” Koehler told this news outlet this morning. “If we can, we look for a location with a pick up window and room for seating.”

The new location — which formerly housed a KFC restaurant — replaces a pizza shop at 502 W. National Road that closes today as the new restaurant opens. The former National Road location opened in 1981.

The new Domino’s also has an open-concept kitchen visible to customers.

The new location at 590 S. Main Street in Englewood maintains the current store’s phone number of 937-832-1336.
