300-seat restaurant coming to Englewood

The Dayton-based El Toro Mexican chain will open its 12th restaurant in the region this fall in the former Tumbleweed steakhouse at 9190 N. Main St. in Englewood, El Toro CEO Samuel M. Munoz said this morning.

El Toro officials have leased the 6,869-square-foot building and hope to open a new restaurant there by the end of November. The restaurant will seat about 300 and will open with about 15 employees, Munoz said.

El Toro operates two restaurants in Springfield and 10 more from West Chester to Huber Heights. Customers of the Huber Heights El Toro restaurant who live in the Englewood area asked for a location closer to their homes, Munoz said.

The chain is exploring an expansion northward toward Toledo and southward toward Cincinnati, Munoz said.

Tumbleweed Southwest Grill closed all three of its Dayton-area locations in January.
