About 70 Inteva Products LLC workers eligible for benefits

VANDALIA — About 70 workers and contractors displaced when Inteva Products LLC shipped some of its operations abroad are now eligible to receive Trade Adjustment Assistance benefits.

Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, announced on Thursday, July 29, that the U.S. Department of Labor has approved the benefits, which include income support, re-training assistance and relocation and job search allowances.

“Losing a job can devastate families and affect whole communities,” Brown said in a prepared statement. “These funds will help ensure that these displaced workers in Montgomery County have the financial support and training opportunities to get a fresh start.”

The TAA funding applies to workers who were laid off between Dec. 16, 2008 through December of this year. The company provides engineering and support services to the automotive industry.

Brown also announced on Thursday that 14 workers who were displaced from Siemens IT Solutions and Services Inc. in Mason are eligible to receive TAA benefits. The funding applies to workers who were laid off between April 17, 2009 and April 2011. They were employed in information technology outsourcing and professional consulting services, according to Brown’s office.
