Amazon snubs Ohio for best entrepreneurial state rankings

Amazon doesn’t think Ohio is one of the best states for entrepreneurs.

Amazon revealed the “Top 10 Most Entrepreneurial States” with the most small and medium-sized businesses per capita selling on Amazon. Millions of small and medium-sized businesses worldwide sell their products through Amazon to reach new customers around the world, and hundreds of thousands of them are in 10 U.S. states.

  5. New Jersey
  6. Washington
  7. Florida
  8. Delaware

Amazon has a major presence in Ohio. Amazon has more than 6,000 employees in Ohio, and continues to look for new employees in the state. Amazon will also open a fourth Ohio fulfillment center in Monroe that will create more than 1,000 full-time jobs.

“We are excited to continue growing in Ohio, adding 1,000 new jobs to the more than 6,000 Amazonians already working in the state,” said Sanjay Shah, Amazon’s vice president of North America Customer Fulfillment. “The support of local leaders and incredible workforce has been instrumental in our decision to locate the new fulfillment center in the state, and we are grateful for the support we’ve received to bring new jobs and investment to Ohio.”
