Asian restaurant reopens, Kettering Dairy Queen relocates

New BBQ festival also in the works for June

A Washington Twp. Asian restaurant will reopen Friday, a Kettering Dairy Queen has relocated and expanded, and a new barbecue festival is coming to Carillon Park.

The Golden Dragon Buffet at 1136 Miamisburg-Centerville Road (Ohio 725) has been closed since early 2012 and will reopen Friday following renovations and a change in management. Golden Dragon will offer a lunch buffet and a dinner buffet Monday through Saturday, and a dinner buffet will be offered all day on Sunday. Sushi and hibachi grill items also will be available.

Ryan Lee, zoning and development manager for Washington Twp., said, “We’re glad to retain them at that location. It helps with the life and the vibrancy of the 725 corridor.”

In Kettering, Dairy Queen has moved from 2056 E. Dorothy Lane to 3301 Woodman Drive, where it has expanded its seating and its menu and is in the process of hiring more employees, franchise owner Jacquie Nelson said. The owners added the Orange Julius franchise to the Dairy Queen shop, which seats 30 inside and another 30 on a patio. The store’s owners have added three employees, bringing employment to 10, and expects to add three to five more in the coming weeks, Nelson said.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned for Jan. 25. The Dairy Queen Orange Julius is open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and noon to 9 p.m. Sunday.

And a new barbecue festival called “Yuengling Brews, Bands & BBQ” will make its debut June 2 in Carillon Park, according to Amy Zahora, executive director of the Miami Valley Restaurant Association.

The event will bring together 12 to 15 Dayton-area restaurants with a “national country music act” that has not yet been announced, Zahora said. The event will benefit the restaurant association and its scholarship fund.
