Batteries Plus opens new store in Miamisburg

MIAMISBURG — Whether for your watch or car, a new Batteries Plus store has opened in Miamisburg.

Batteries Plus, the nation’s largest battery retail chain store, has on-site equipment and technical services to assemble, test, condition and design custom battery packs for rechargeable household and commercial products, ranging from watches, cameras and cell phones, to iRobot, Roomba vacuums, solar landscape lights, talking books for children and keyless entry door locks used at major hotels.

“You don’t inherently know everything there is to know about batteries. We go through intensive online training,” said John Alvarez, owner of the new franchise store at 206 Springboro Pike.

The store manager is Chris McCune, and a grand opening was Monday, Aug. 17. For managers, training includes three weeks at the company’s headquarters in Heartland, Wisc.

“For each style of device, there’s different things you need to know, such as with how an iPod works, how they come apart,” he said.

He said Batteries Plus not only checks to see if a car battery is prepped for winter, staff also tests a vehicle’s charging and starting systems and install a new battery if needed. The store also sells automotive accessories. The company is the nation’s leader in battery recycling of lead acid, nickel cadmium, nickel-metal hydride, lithium ion batteries and alkaline batteries.

Store hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
